{"id":2194,"date":"2017-11-29T13:31:21","date_gmt":"2017-11-29T13:31:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/?p=2194"},"modified":"2018-06-07T15:14:59","modified_gmt":"2018-06-07T15:14:59","slug":"guest-blogging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/ro\/guest-blogging\/","title":{"rendered":"After Guest Blogging 50+ Articles to Top Blogs, Here&#8217;s What I&#8217;ve Learned"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>How can I get started with guest blogging?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>How can I submit a guest post to the leading business blogs?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>How can I get more clients and work via guest posting?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you\u2019re looking answers to these three questions, this article\u2019s for you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Because that\u2019s exactly what this article&#8217;s\u00a0about \u2013 how to\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">get started with guest blogging and<\/span>\u00a0accelerate your way to contributing to the top publications.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But first, there\u2019s one important question that needs to be answered:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is guest blogging even worth your time?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Around 2 years ago, I wrote my first guest post for a small business blog.<\/p>\n<p>Fast forward to 2017, I\u2019ve become a contributor to\u00a0some of the top-tier blogs that once seemed like a distant dream: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/article\/302418\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Entrepreneur<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/contentmarketinginstitute.com\/2017\/03\/promote-blog-content-facebook\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Content Marketing Institute<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.socialmediaexaminer.com\/facebook-drive-traffic-to-blog-posts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Social Media Examiner<\/a>, and many more.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what I\u2019ve learned about guest posting after contributing more than 50 articles to more than 15 blogs.<\/p>\n<h2>Part 1: The benefits of guest blogging<\/h2>\n<p>Believe me, I\u2019m highly sceptical about the ROI of guest posting.<\/p>\n<p>This said, I\u2019ve seen both value and time wasted when publishing in third-party blogs.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to get the maximum value out of guest blogging, <b>you need to know your goal<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here are some common reasons for guest blogging:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Getting <strong>high-quality backlinks<\/strong> for your website<\/li>\n<li>Establishing yourself as a <strong>thought leader<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Increasing the <strong>awareness<\/strong> of your brand<\/li>\n<li>Finding <strong>new clients<\/strong> and potential partners<\/li>\n<li>Building <strong>new connections<\/strong> within your industry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The reason I started guest blogging was to get quality backlinks for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scoro.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scoro<\/a>\u2019s website \u2013 my employer at the time. I also loved the challenge of getting accepted to some of the top blogs I had myself learned from.<\/p>\n<p>Guest blogging can be a highly efficient strategy to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/forbesagencycouncil\/2017\/03\/02\/11-ways-to-improve-seo-in-2017\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">improve your SEO results<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ahrefs <a href=\"http:\/\/bloggerjet.com\/guest-post\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">studied the correlation <\/a>between the number of backlinks and keyword rankings on Google. They found that those two metrics have a high correlation between them.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 549px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/null-4.jpeg\" alt=\"google rankings' correlation\" width=\"549\" height=\"335\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Backlinks = more organic traffic \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/bloggerjet.com\/guest-post\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Image source<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While I personally believe that guest blogging didn\u2019t contribute much to our blog\u2019s growth, I still believe it had <i>some<\/i> effect on the rapid <a href=\"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/ro\/growing-organic-blog-traffic\/\">growth of our organic blog traffic<\/a> thanks to quality backlinks.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 550px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/null-41.png\" alt=\"guest blogging benefits\" width=\"550\" height=\"308\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Scoro\u2019s blog traffic growth over time<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3>Key takeaway #1: You need to know <i>why<\/i> you\u2019re guest blogging.<\/h3>\n<p>Alright, we can say that submitting guest posts to other websites has the potential to increase your <a href=\"https:\/\/moz.com\/learn\/seo\/domain-authority\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Domain Authority<\/a> in the eyes of Google and bring you more website traffic in the long term.<\/p>\n<p>But there\u2019s also a caveat: <b>not all guest blogging is equally beneficial to your SEO results. <\/b><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s a big difference between a backlink from a popular blog and a website with low authority.<\/p>\n<p>Compare this to creating your brand\u2019s showroom in the middle of the woods or a royal castle.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 451px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/null-42.png\" alt=\"backlink from a popular blog vs website with low authority\" width=\"451\" height=\"308\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Where would you rather be seen?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Guest blogging on a low-authority site with a few readers is likely going to have a smaller impact on your long-term website traffic than writing a high-quality blog article for your own blog.<\/p>\n<h3>Key takeaway #2: It\u2019s worth guest blogging on high-authority sites.<\/h3>\n<p>Popular blogs also get more traffic which means higher visibility for your post, you, and your brand.<\/p>\n<p><strong>P.S. What if you\u2019re interested in building your personal brand?<\/p>\n<p><b>Guest blogging is a great way of establishing yourself as a thought leader in any particular industry. <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>However, it\u2019s not always as efficient as you might think.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>For example, when I published an article in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/article\/304129\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Entrepreneur<\/a>, only nine readers looked up my profile and website.<\/p>\n<p>It looks like guest blogging isn\u2019t going to bring you much fame after all\u2026 Even a small&#8217;scale\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/ro\/facebook-advertising-hacks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook advertising<\/a> campaign would bring you significantly more results.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 611px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/null-44.png\" alt=\"generating traffic through guest blogging\" width=\"611\" height=\"223\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Guest articles bring little traffic to your website<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Tim Soulo, Head of Marketing at Ahrefs, conducted an <a href=\"http:\/\/bloggerjet.com\/guest-post\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">extensive analysis<\/a> of 273 guest posts and their ROI.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what he had to say about referral traffic from guest posting:<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 624px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/null-46.png\" alt=\"guest blogging doesn\u2019t bring you much website traffic\" width=\"624\" height=\"181\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tim seems to agree<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Out of 239 guest articles\u00a0Tim wrote, 35% generated less than 10 visits and only 15% generated more than 100 visits.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 409px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/null-6.jpeg\" alt=\"average referral traffic from a guest article\" width=\"409\" height=\"409\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">That looks pretty bad\u2026 \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/bloggerjet.com\/guest-post\/\">Image source<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Alright, so now we have data from two marketers saying that guest blogging is a terrible way of getting more traffic to your personal or branded website.<\/p>\n<h3>Key takeaway #3: Guest blogging is an awfully inefficient way to increase website traffic<\/h3>\n<p>Does this mean you shouldn\u2019t\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">be guest posting <\/span>at all?<\/p>\n<p>Not necessarily.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s another finding from Tim\u2019s research:<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 624px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/null-48.png\" alt=\"guest posts with links\" width=\"624\" height=\"144\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">You can make your guest posts work!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>If you\u2019re able to include a <strong>relevant link<\/strong> to an article or research material on your website, the guest post will bring you a lot more value.<\/p>\n<h3>Key takeaway #4: Increase your traffic from guest posts by linking to your other articles\/research.<\/h3>\n<p>Another cool idea is to create a content upgrade, e.g. an eBook with additional insights, and offer it to your guest post readers in exchange for their emails. This way, you can collect the readers\u2019 emails and reach out to them in the future.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 555px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/null-49.png\" alt=\"free e-book for your guest post readers\" width=\"555\" height=\"273\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">For example, an eBook with relevant material<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I\u2019ve also learned that <b>the topic of your guest post matters a lot<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>For example, if you\u2019re a marketer looking to get hired, it makes sense to write guest posts on marketing, not productivity or management.<\/p>\n<p>When I wrote an article on Facebook advertising for Content Marketing Institute, it was picked up by other marketers.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 626px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/null-51.png\" alt=\"9 brilliant tactics to promote your blog content on facebook\" width=\"626\" height=\"311\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Article I wrote for Content Marketing Institute<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Compare to the nine website visits I got from a guest post in Entrepreneur, writing for a marketing blog had a significantly higher ROI.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The guest post brought me 30+ visitors. While it\u2019s not much, some of those people were interested in collaboration or hiring me.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 376px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" topics.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s another question people are curious about:<\/p>\n<h2>Can you get hired via guest blogging?<\/h2>\n<p>Definitely!<\/p>\n<p>More than once did I write a guest post\u00a0to a marketing blog and got made an offer to keep writing to them as a paid contributor.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve also had several people read my guest contributions to leading marketing blogs and reach out to takeaway #5: Guest blogging can be an efficient way to attract new customers.<\/h3>\n<p>However, don\u2019t get too excited about writing one or two guest posts and seeing all the business to come to land a job. <\/b>People who love your guest post will check out your website.<\/p>\n<p>Having a website to back up your expertise will help to convince people to hire you.<\/p>\n<h3>Key takeaway #6: You need a personal website for people to find out more about you.<\/h3>\n<p>For me, guest blogging has always worked hand-in-hand with my personal website.\u00a0<i>The best <\/i>job offers never even came via a guest post, but thanks to people reading my blog.<\/p>\n<p>However, guest posting helps to <strong>strengthen your personal brand a<\/strong>nd establish you as an expert in your field.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s an example of a Twitter profile belonging to marketing influencer <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iconiContent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aaron Orendorff<\/a> \u2013 having published in so many well-known publications helps him to increase credibility.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 576px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" posting:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b>It\u2019s worth guest blogging on high-authority websites<\/b> and the blogs your potential clients read.<\/li>\n<li><b>Guest posts do not usually bring much traffic to your website<\/b>, even not the articles published on high-authority sites.<\/li>\n<li><b>Sometimes, it\u2019s worth skipping a guest posting opportunity<\/b> and write an article in your own blog instead.<\/li>\n<li><b>Guest blogging works best when combined with a personal blog<\/b> or a branded website.<\/li>\n<li><b>Look at guest posting as a way to increase credibility<\/b> and connect blogging<\/h2>\n<p><strong>I wrote my first ever blog article in 2015.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I had just joined the software startup Scoro as their Content Marketing Manager.<\/p>\n<p>My first week at work, I wrote <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scoro.com\/blog\/business-hacks-part-1-basic-lifehacks-applied-to-business\/\">the first blog article <\/a>I\u2019d <i>ever written in English<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Looking at it now, I feel slightly embarrassed, would like to rewrite the entire article, and prohibit my past self from publishing any more content.<\/p>\n<figure hadn\u2019t started to publish those blog articles, I never would have learned to write<\/b>.<\/p>\n<h3>Key takeaway #7: The best way to learn to write is to write.<\/h3>\n<p>Your first articles are 99% sure to be poorly written and will fail to attract many readers.<\/p>\n<p>But that\u2019s just fine.<\/p>\n<p>The worst thing you can do is to give up and never take on writing again.<b> Keep blogging on a regular basis until you get better and start attracting some readers.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><strong>A good litmus test is to show your articles to your friends and ask if <i>they\u2019d <\/i>read that.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I started to write and publish a blog article on Scoro\u2019s blog every week. After six months, my articles <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scoro.com\/blog\/workplace-productivity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">started to improve<\/a> and I kept learning from my colleagues that helped to edit my work.<\/p>\n<p>I was super eager to start guest posting\u00a0in some of my favourite marketing blogs. Yet some of my earliest outreaches got negative replies.<\/p>\n<p>I still needed to grow as a writer.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 716px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/null-62.png\" alt=\"early pitches will be rejected\" width=\"716\" height=\"262\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">You\u2019re going to get a lot of those emails<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3>Key takeaway #8: Your early pitches will be rejected. Don\u2019t give up.<\/h3>\n<p><b>Reaching the level of expertise and writing skills demanded by top publications takes time.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>If you submit the first article you\u2019ve written in your life as a guest contribution, it probably won\u2019t get accepted. You\u2019ll first need to gain some credibility as a writer.<\/p>\n<p>So here\u2019s what I did next: <b>I started by<\/b><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>\u00a0guest posting<\/strong> <\/span><b>to small blogs.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s how I looked at it:<b> If I get accepted to some mid-tier blogs, I can put in hard work, publish some amazing articles, and then pitch larger blogs based on that experience.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I sent out 10+ pitches to some of the blogs I considered to be reachable, pitched them highly relevant ideas and was given a chance by a couple of editors. You must constantly improve your <a href=\"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/ro\/copywriting-for-facebook-and-social-media\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">copywriting<\/a> skills to write better pitches.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the thing:<strong> Instead of pitching your ideas to 1-2 blogs, reach out to more than 10. There&#8217;s a lot higher chance that one of your pitches will get accepted.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One of the first guest posts I wrote was for the HubSpot blog.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 691px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/null-64.png\" alt=\"6 ways to transform a hectic office into your personal haven\" width=\"691\" height=\"249\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Thanks HubSpot for the opportunity!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It even had a decent amount of social shares that made it possible to pitch myself as a\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">guest blogger to<\/span> additional blogs.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 306px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/null-65.png\" alt=\"number of social shares\" width=\"306\" height=\"311\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">71 LinkedIn shares is pretty good<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3>Key takeaway #9: Start guest <span style=\"color: #000000;\">blogging in<\/span> small or mid-tier blogs and work your way up.<\/h3>\n<p>Don\u2019t expect those first guest posts to bring you fame and new customers.<\/p>\n<p>However, <b>you\u2019ve got to get your snowball-effect snowball rolling from somewhere<\/b>. So look for blogs that accept articles from less-experienced writers like yourself.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s one more highly important tip: <b>Write relevant and original pitches.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s how NOT to get your guest post pitch accepted:<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 652px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/null-67.png\" alt=\"example of a bad pitch\" width=\"652\" height=\"211\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Don\u2019t write these kinds of pitches<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><b>Here\u2019s what\u2019s wrong with this pitch:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The blogger did not introduce herself.<\/li>\n<li>The blogger made no pitches for articles she wanted to write.<\/li>\n<li>She didn\u2019t refer to her previous work to prove she can write.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>That\u2019s worse than not sending any email. It\u2019s sending an email and wasting the editor\u2019s time.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s another one: the regular guest post pitch I saw when working as the Content Marketing Manager for Scoro.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 789px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/null-68.png\" alt=\"Generic pitches get rejected\" width=\"789\" height=\"390\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Generic pitches get rejected<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>What\u2019s wrong with<i> that <\/i>pitch?<\/p>\n<p><b>All the three topics they pitched are generic,<\/b> and there are probably 10 articles with the exact same titles already published. This pitch is a no-go.<\/p>\n<h3>Key takeaway #10: A bad pitch is worse than no pitch at all.<\/h3>\n<p><b>So what makes a good guest post pitch \u2013<\/b> one that gets you accepted to the leading blogs?<\/p>\n<p>CopyHackers has a funny and insightful guide to writing an <a href=\"https:\/\/copyhackers.com\/write-a-guest-post\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">awesome pitch<\/a>. Here\u2019s what they suggest:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>STEP 1: Be awesome.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>STEP 2: Choose a topic you know shit-tons about.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>STEP 3: Work on that headline some more.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In fact, their guidelines make you almost too intimidated to send over a pitch.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 705px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/null-71.png\" alt=\"post guidelines by copyhackers\" width=\"705\" height=\"289\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Would you dare to send in your pitch?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But these guidelines also <b>push you out of your comfort zone, nudging you to be creative and put in some hard work.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s exactly how writing a good pitch should feel like.<\/p>\n<p>As I\u2019d always wanted to\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">be a guest blogger<\/span> for CopyHackers, I decided to take my chance. It took me <b>22 minutes (instead of the 3 minutes most people put in their pitches) <\/b>to write an email to the blog.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m still proud of myself when looking at this<em>\u00a0<\/em>pitch.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 760px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/null-73.png\" alt=\"engaging and original pitch\" width=\"760\" height=\"460\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Write engaging and original pitches<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A couple of hours after sending over my email, I got a reply from CopyHackers\u2019 founder Joanna Wiebe, saying <b>she loved the pitch<\/b> and would like to see the outline or first draft.\u00a0????<\/p>\n<p>In a few weeks,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/copyhackers.com\/2017\/05\/36-facebook-ad-hacks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">my article<\/a> was published and got tons of positive feedback.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 689px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/karolakarlson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/null-75.png\" alt=\"guest post for copy hackers\" width=\"689\" height=\"342\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">This pitch turned into an article<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Which leads us to the next lesson\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Key takeaway #11: Work on your pitches like your life depends on it.<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s what a go<span style=\"color: #000000;\">od guest post <\/span>pitch looks like:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>It shows personality \u2013 <\/b>your introduction should differentiate your from other contributors<\/li>\n<li><b>It\u2019s original <\/b>\u2013 the ideas you pitch have not been written about before or you\u2019re offering a unique angle to the subject.<\/li>\n<li><b>It\u2019s practical \u2013<\/b> you\u2019ve done your research on the blog and suggest topics they haven\u2019t published yet.<\/li>\n<li><b>It\u2019s convincing \u2013<\/b> you explain to the reader why you\u2019re the right person to write on the proposed topics and also link to some of your previous articles.<\/li>\n<li><b>It\u2019s entertaining \u2013<\/b> use interesting wording and create a good flow, so that the reader will enjoy reviewing your pitch.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Yeah, that\u2019s a lot of things you need to get right.
